New User Registration is the process of creating a unique User Name and Password that gives you secure access to your accounts. It’s easy and convenient to register for online access. During the registration process, you will be asked to provide your Tax Identification number (Social Security or Employer Identification number) and an account number, create a unique User Name and Password and set up enhanced security features, such as picking and naming a security image.

The following account types can be accessed when you register:

Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, Roth Conversion IRA, UGMA1 or UTMA1, Coverdell Education Savings Account (CESA)2, Giftrust®, IRA-Rollover, SEP-IRA, SIMPLE-IRA, 403(b), Personal Trusts, Brokerage Accounts, Defined Benefit, Money Purchase Pension, Partnerships, Operating accounts, Endowments, Profit Sharing, Limited Liability Corporations, Foundations, Unincorporated Associations, Other Qualified Retirement Plans.

Please follow the step-by-step instructions below to register for American Century Investments online account access.

How To Register for Online Access

1: Register as an Investor

  1. Select the Register Now link in the top menu bar of any page on American Century Investments site.
  2. Enter a valid Tax Identification number (Social Security number or Employer Identification number).
  3. Set Up Your Account:
    • Enter a 12-13 digit account number registered to the Tax Identification number entered in Step 2.
    • Create a User Name
    • Enter an email address
  4. Set Up Security Features:
    • Create a Password
    • Setup at least one multifactor authentication method
  5. Follow the prompts to complete registration.

2: Register a Workplace Plan

  1. Select the Register Now link in the top menu bar of any page on American Century Investments site.
  2. Enter a valid Tax Identification number (Social Security number or Employer Identification number).
  3. Set Up Your Account:
    • Enter a 5 digit zip code registered to the Tax Identification number entered in Step 2.
    • Create a User Name
    • Enter an email address
  4. Set Up Security Features:
    • Create a Password
    • Setup at least one multifactor authentication method
  5. Follow the prompts to complete registration.

3: Register a UGMA1, UTMA1 or Coverdell Education Savings Account2

  1. Select the Register Now link in the top menu bar of any page on American Century Investments site.
  2. Enter the Social Security number of the beneficiary.
  3. Set Up Your Account:
    • Enter the 12-digit UGMA, UTMA or Coverdell Education Savings Account number for verification. If you do not have this information readily available, please contact us.
    • Create a User Name
    • Enter an email address
  4. Set Up Security Features:
    • Create a Password
    • Setup at least one multifactor authentication method
  5. Follow the prompts to complete registration.

4: Register a Giftrust® Account

  1. Select the Register Now link in the top menu bar of any page on American Century Investments site.
  2. Enter the Employer Identification Number (EIN) assigned to the Giftrust account by American Century Investments®.
  3. Set Up Your Account:
    • Enter the 12-digit Giftrust account number registered to the EIN entered in Step 2. If you do not have this information readily available, please contact us.
    • Create a User Name
    • Enter an email address
  4. Set Up Security Features:
    • Create a Password
    • Setup at least one multifactor authentication method
  5. Follow the prompts to complete registration.

Note: Online access is not available for UGMA or UTMA accounts with multiple custodians under the primary Tax Identification number. Online access is not available if the Responsible Individual for the CESA is different from the custodian of a UGMA or UTMA account under the same Tax Identification number.

American Century Investments Login Steps

After registering for online account access or if you are an existing account holder, the next steps would be to Log In with your User Name and Password for secure access to your accounts. Once logged in, you can view account balances, conduct online transactions, and access exclusive financial tools and information.

1: Enrolled In Multifactor Authentication (MFA). If you have logged in recently and are enrolled in multifactor authentication follow the steps below.

Forgotten User Name: If you don’t remember your User Name, follow these steps to access your account:

  1. Select the lock icon at the top of most pages on American Century Investments website.
  2. When the lock icon expands, select Forgot user name to get started.
  3. Enter one of the following (not both):
    • Tax Identification Number registered to the account
    • Account Number
    • Select the Continue button
  4. Follow the prompts.

Forgotten Password: If you forgot your Password, simply request a one-time verification code online using these steps:

  1. Enter your User Name.
  2. Select the Need help logging in? link, and then select the Forgot password? link.
  3. Enter your User Name, then select the reset option you’d like to use.
  4. Once you receive your one-time verification code, enter it in the box that say Enter Code and select the Verify button.
  5. Follow remaining prompts to reset your Password and gain access.

If you are not near the phone used for your multifactor authentication options, then call one of their representatives at 1-800-345-2021.

Account Is Locked: If your account is locked, simply request a one-time verification code online using these steps:

  1. Enter your User Name.
  2. Select the Need help logging in? link, and then select the Unlock account? link.
  3. Enter your User Name, then select the reset option you’d like to use.
  4. Once you receive your one-time verification code, enter it in the box that say Enter Code and select the Verify button.
  5. Follow the remaining prompts to log in to your account.

2: Not Enrolled In Enrolled In Multifactor Authentication (MFA) If you have not logged in recently and are not enrolled in multifactor authentication follow the steps below.

Forgotten User Name: If you don’t remember your User Name, follow these steps to access your account:

  1. Select the lock icon at the top of most pages on our website.
  2. When the lock icon expands, select Forgot user name to get started.
  3. Enter one of the following (not both):
    • Tax Identification Number registered to the account
    • Account Number
    • Select the Continue button
  4. Follow the prompts.

Forgotten Password or Account is Locked: If you forgot your Password, or your account is locked, simply request a one-time security code online using these steps:

  1. Enter your User Name.
  2. If prompted, follow the Choose Additional Verification steps to proceed.
  3. If asked to enter your Password, select the Forgot Password? link, located below the Password field, and follow the prompts to receive a one-time security code.
  4. Once you receive your one-time security code, enter it in Security Code box and select the Continue button.
  5. Follow remaining prompts to reset your Password and gain access.

Forgotten Answers to Challenge Questions: If you are unable to answer your challenge question, you may request a one-time security code online using these steps:

  1. Enter your User Name.
  2. Select the Forgot Answer? link and follow the prompts to receive a one-time security code.
  3. Once you receive your one-time security code, enter it in Security Code box and select the Continue button.
  4. Follow remaining prompts to gain access to your account.
