ECSI student loans is a catch-all term for federal, private and other types of education debt that’s managed by loan servicing company Heartland ECSI. However, your Heartland ECSI login allows you to access and manage your student loan account online. You can sign in or create a profile to view all of your ECSI accounts together.

What You Need To Know About Heartland ECSI
Along with being a third-party loan servicer, ECSI is a customer service agent for the borrower. The company also offers software solutions for services beyond student loan servicing, including tuition payment plans, document signing (such as promissory notes, entrance counseling and exit interviews), refund disbursements and tax document management.
It has advocates who can help students who are having trouble paying their past due tuition. It may also work with students who are having trouble paying back their loans and want to discuss deferment or forbearance.
ECSI can service many types of student loans:
- Perkins loans (which are no longer offered)
- Private student loans
- School institutional loans
- Primary care loans
- Health and nursing loans
You won’t be able to choose ECSI as your servicer; your lender should be the one to notify you if it works with ECSI. You can then sign up to make payments through ECSI. You may also be able to apply through ECSI for a tuition repayment plan, as long as your school is a participating institution.
How Create A Profile
To access your accounts being serviced or managed by ECSI, you’ll need to create a profile. Once you know your school or lender works with ECSI, you can follow some simple steps to set up your online account.
- Go to heartland.ecsi.net and click the “Sign In or Register” button. Next, click “Register” in the pop-up window.
- Create your username and password.
- Click “Continue.” Next, you will need to enter your personal information, such as your name, date of birth and address.
- You’ll then need to choose three security questions and answers to protect your account when logging in later.
- Follow the simple process by entering the requested information. Once you have created your profile, you will need to connect your account by following the steps below.
- Finally, you’ll click “Sign In and Accept.”
Heartland ECSI Login Steps
If you already have an existing profile, you can proceed to login. It is simple to do this, but just to give you a quick start we can help you locate the login section with ease. You will need to provide some personal information to log-in to ensure that your account is protected from unauthorized access.
- You can now use the username and password you created to log in by going to https://heartland.ecsi.net/index.main.html#/access/signIn
- Next, you’ll have to connect an account, which requires account information (often called a Heartland Key), from your lender.
- From the Your School Accounts screen, click the red plus sign located under “Connect An Account.”
- If you have your Heartland ECSI key — which you can look for on your lender’s billing statement — enter it under “Connect An Account.” On this page, ECSI calls the number “your Heartland account” and notes on its site that “your account number can be located in the upper right hand section of all printed and mailed communication and notifications. The account number is a 17 character alphanumeric number (including a hyphen). A sample account number is 01122-12345678912.”
- Click “Connect.” Your loan accounts should now be connected.
If you can’t remember your username, you can retrieve it from the Sign In page. Click on the Forgot Username? link. Enter your email address, and click on the Continue button. Select Email or Text to receive the verification code and click the Send verification code button. You will receive the verification code via email or text message. Enter the received verification code and click the Continue button, you will find your username on the page.
If you can’t remember your password, you can reset it from the Sign In page. Click on the Forgot Password? link. Select Email or Text and click the Send verification code button. You will receive the verification code via email or text message. Enter the verification code and click the Continue button. You will be able to reset your password.
How To Make Your Heartland ECSI Payment
You may make payments to ECSI by mail, online through their website, using their EasyPath mobile app (for iOS and Android), over the phone using their automated payment assistant or with a customer service advocate, and through bill pay services. Please note that processing fees apply to some, but not all payment methods.
1: Online: ECSI accepts one-time and recurring online payments via ACH and debit/credit card. They accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. When paying with your Visa credit Card (not Visa debit card) the following restriction will apply: (1) you can make up to six (6) one-time payments per loan account per year and (2) you cannot use Visa credit card for recurring payments. They do not accept American Express.
To make an online payment, Sign In and click on the Make a Payment button. You will be shown information about the methods of payment accepted by ECSI and which payment methods are subject to a processing fee. After reviewing this information, click on the Continue button.
Select either Make a one-time payment or Set up automated recurring payment. You can then select your payment method. You can click on the View Applicable Processing Fees link to view the processing fees that would be applicable to your payment type and payment method.
Continue by entering your account information and following the remaining system prompts to submit your payment. ECSI typically posts payments to your online account at heartland.ecsi.net within two (2) business days of receiving your payment.
2: By Phone: ECSI also accepts one-time ACH and debit/credit card payments, and recurring ACH payments over the phone. ECSI does not accept recurring debit/credit card payments over the phone. One-time payments can be made by calling toll-free at 888.549.3274 and using their automated payment assistant which is available 24/7.
For recurring ACH payments, please call one of their customer service advocates toll-free at 888.549.3274, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM EST.
3: By Mail: ECSI accepts checks and money orders. Make your check or money order payable to your school and mail to: Your School Name, c/o ECSI, P.O. Box 1287, Moon Township, PA 15108. Please include your Heartland Key or Account Number in the memo section of your check or money order.
If you are providing instructions for the application of your payment, please include these instructions in a separate letter with your payment to allow for timely processing. Please do not write instructions on your check or money order.
4: Mobile App: ECSI accepts payments via the EasyPath mobile app. The mobile app is available for Apple or Android phones. The Apple mobile app can be downloaded at The App Store (iTunes). The Android app can be downloaded at the Google Play store. They accept the same payments on the mobile app as accepted online.
5: Bill Pay: ECSI accepts payments through your bank or other third party bill pay service.
You will need to talk to your bank about the terms and conditions of their bill payment services. When enrolling in any bill payment service, be sure to provide the correct account and routing numbers to your bank, make checks payable to your institution, and cancel recurring payments when you’ve paid your loan in full.
