Louisiana Unemployment Login: How To Manage Your Benefits Online
Unemployment insurance (UI) is a program designed to provide temporary financial assistance to workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own and who meet the requirements of the Louisiana Employment Security Law. UI benefits are paid as a matter of past employment and legal entitlement, and not on the basis of need. The Louisiana Unemployment Login portal is an online portal that allows claimant to manage their benefits online, apply for unemployment benefits and file for weekly benefits online, review claim status in detail and manage your own profile, access help screens and navigation aids to assist you in using the system.
The Louisiana unemployment login page on the LouisianaWorks.net website is for filing a loss of job claim online in the state through the HiRE file system. HiRE stands for Helping Individuals Reach Employment and helps workers find the latest job openings, file or manage a claim or post their resume. Well, the Louisiana Employment Security Law says you cannot receive benefits if: (a) You left your employment without good cause (because of a big change your employer made to your job.) (b) You were fired for misconduct connected with your employment.
Read our downloadable guide carefully and completely. It contains important information that should answer most of your questions about Louisiana Unemployment Insurance benefits. Keep in mind, though, that like this website, it only gives general information. It is not the law. It is not a regulation. It is not legal advice.
Eligibility Requirements for Louisiana Unemployment Benefits
In Louisiana, the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) handles unemployment benefits and determines eligibility on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must meet the following three eligibility requirements in order to collect unemployment benefits in Louisiana: The law sets qualifying requirements in three main areas: your past wages, your job separation, and ongoing availability and work search requirements.
You must meet all of the following qualifying requirements in order to receive benefits.
Past Wages: You must have earned enough wages in your base period. The base period is the first four of the last five completed calendar quarters before you filed your claim.
Reason for separation from your last work: You must be unemployed or partially unemployed through no fault of your own in order to receive benefits.
Ongoing availability and work search: You must be physically able and available to work. You must also be actively seeking work. If you are temporarily laid off and have a definite return-to-work date, your work search requirements may be waived.
