How To Make Your MBNA Credit Card Payments

It’s important to make your monthly payments on time. Promotional offers will no longer apply from the beginning of any statement period during which you have breached your terms and conditions, for example if you haven’t paid on time or have gone over your credit limit.

Remember to check your statements for the minimum payment amount and due date. They recommend you pay more than the minimum amount when you can to reduce the time and cost of repaying your balance. From Direct Debit payments which pretty much look after themselves, to one-off debit card payments, they offer a range of payment options to suit you.

Credit card payments – how to pay your credit card

Making your credit card payments on time is quick and easy to do. There are lots of different ways to make the monthly payments to your credit card and stay in control.

1: By Direct Debit: Set up a Direct Debit to make automatic credit card payments each month, either for a set monthly amount, the minimum payment or the full balance. You can set up and manage your Direct Debit with MBNA using Online Card Services, or by giving them a call.

Once a Direct Debit is in place, your monthly payment will be credited to your credit card account on your payment due date. The money will be collected from your bank or building society by the next working day.

2: One off payments: If you’d like to be in full control, or make additional payments on top of your Direct Debit, you’ve got a few options. Just make sure at least the minimum amount is covered each month, and the payment method used will get your payment to them before the due date. You can make additional payments at any point to reduce your balance and any interest costs.

If you make additional payments to your account during the month they may still collect your Direct Debit in full.

  • 3: By bank transfer or debit card: Using the MBNA Card Services app simply log in, then select ‘Pay credit card’.

From there you can choose to pay by debit card or, more conveniently, to pay from a bank or building society account.

If you choose to pay from an account you hold elsewhere:

  • Enter the amount you’d like to pay.
  • From the list, select the bank you have an account with and want to pay from.
  • We’ll briefly hand you over to their website or app to approve the payment.

This service isn’t possible with all banks and building societies yet, but more will be added as time goes on.

We only share payment information. No other personal details are shared between financial service providers. For full details and terms, please read their payment initiation services agreement (PDF, 65KB).
